Fleas and ticks aren’t just irritating; they’re persistent pests that can settle into your home or yard before you realize there’s a problem. Catching the signs early can help prevent a minor issue from becoming unmanageable.

Watch for these common indicators of flea and tick issues:

  • Excessive scratching from pets. This is often the first and most noticeable sign of fleas. Pets may seem restless, frequently scratching, licking, or biting at their skin and fur.
  • Visible flea “dirt.” These tiny, dark specks resemble black pepper and are actually flea droppings. You might find them in your pet’s fur and bedding, or on furniture and carpets where your pet spends time.
