Our Beginnings
a letter by owner and co-founder Greg Young
I like to say that Proterra kind of fell in our lap. Years ago, my business partner Danny and I were helping our friend, Ben Tanner, grow one of his pest control companies in Texas. Danny and I told Ben that we wanted to start our own pest control company that offered world class customer service, eco friendly pest control and provided the most thorough service on the market.
Ben said, “How can I help” and just like that Ben became one of our key mentors and a partner in a pest control company named Natura pest control from years 2012 to 2017.
In early 2017, Ben went and started another pest control company with a friend in Tricities, WA called VEX pest control. That same year, Danny and I opened a new Natura office in Reno, NV with longtime friend and pest control guru Andrew Burress.
Because we had such a great working relationship with Ben Tanner, in 2020 Ben Tanner called us and asked if we would take over this Tricites, WA office. We said we would love to. And just a few weeks later we had an office in Tricities, WA. We chose to rebrand VEX to Proterra because it so spoke so naturally to our aspiration to be the safest. After all people shouldn’t have to worry about their kids or pets’ safety to get rid of the creepy-crawlies.
Our commitment is to offer best in class customer service, because people deserve to be treated well. We are also committed to being the safest, to provide the most complete service, and to be the easiest work with. Maintaining these commitments is an ongoing process and its never done. I love the outdoors. I particularly love hiking with my wife, daughter and dogs (Cali, Nash and Makko). I also take a couple of hunting and fishing trips every year with good friends. I love my role as the Integrator because it allows me it allows me to motivate and inspire others and help others to grow to become better too.

A passion of mine has been spending time with my family, this has grown deeper now that my husband and I are new parents.
